Looking for 1/87upto1/125 kits& or build ups
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, September 11, 2003 11:51 PM
Hi,
I am currently working on a 1/87(upto 1/125) scale diorama/HO layout w/ minimal trains and more themes, such as ship yard, militarty base, surrounding community and a downtown area containing a baseball field(minor league). Sounds very ambitious I am sure, but I am looking at it as I life long project.

My current search has me looking for any 1/87(I know there is very little) ships, can use up to 1/125 or so. Don't care old models, toys, (can not spend a lot on 1 kit or ship)whatever I will make it work. Can be militarty or commercial as I need both. Alreadt have lindberg Blue Devil. Also looking for a USS JFK CVA -67 for a customer of mine, any scale(1/350-1/700). Ok, I think I said enough:)

Take care All, Bill S.

Hi Bill, there are some kits, for instance from Trix (a barge), and artitec makes a norwegian fishing trawler (dutch company ) good luck with the project!

Hey Bill,
I've had the same idea sans the ballpark. Have you tried www.scaleshipyard.com? They have a lot of 1/96 stuff.

Good luck, PF

PigFarmer,
I love ScaleShipyard, when I hit the lotto, I am there. I may at some point even save up my pennies and make the investment in one of their destroyers or cruisers, and some day I would love to get the USS Nimitz (11ft long approx.) carrier on my back wall of my layout.

I am really looking for the guy who is getting rid of his scaleshipyard destroyer or battleship, or the guy who wants to pass on his scratchbuilt piece to someone who will appreciate it...for a reasonable price:) That is the whole thing for me at this point, I can not afford to drop $500-800 for a single piece. Thanks for hte ideas, we are on the same page!

Have you tried any of the card model kits?
I have an Australian Paddle steamer Pevensy which I made up and used as a pattern ship for a larger working model.
The kit was not expensive, about $A10, and sits in the river on my railway layout .
There several web sites that feature card kits that can be downloaded.
