I recommend reading "Six Frigates" by Ian Toll. I found it at Barnes and noble. It has a lot of detailed info about the new U.S. Navy and detailed accounts of Naval battles and the tripolitan war. Also not hard to read but not dramatized. Wether intentional or not the author posted some striking similarities todays U.S. foreign policies.
