Great job on the S-boat , I can't wait to build the one I have but that's on the back burner behind the 3 subs. You can't beat the price on this kit, it's a real bargain but you will take it in the wallet on the WEM photo etch sets but they're worth it, at least that what I tell myself. I too build mostly aircraft and armor but that Revell 1/72 U-boat got me back into building ships again.

Hello Robert,

I would definitely recommend the kit. The White Ensign PE set is really nice, but costs more than the model. I think I will build another one and order the PE.

The flag is from the kit decals, (which fell apart, by the way). I coated a piece of household foil with white glue, diluted with water and applied the decal and then simply folded and trimmed it. I then applied the swastikas from a generic aircraft decal sheet, unfortunately they are a tad too big, but I went with it. Once this was dry and well set, I induced the "wave" into the foil/flag with a paint brush handle. I then used the kit flagpole, attached a section of 2lb test monafilament fishing line and CA glued the flag to the monafilament at the appropriate angle.

I am pleased with the effect as it adds a little life to the static display.

Thanks for the comments. I used MIG pigments for the hull weathering. (Industrial city dirt), drybrushed onto the matted base coat. I thought it was about the right color for that "dirty water stain" that I see on a lot of boat hulls, sort of a greenish gray hue.

I hate to admit this, but I also reversed the windscreen, when I realized my mistake I almost ruined it when I removed it. A dip in Future saved the day.

Very nice canoe you've got there m8. I have this one (actually the "new" version with the quad barreled Flak gun) in my stash too, and she'll be my next KM project after I finish the S-7 for the Kriegsmarine GB.

You're right about the pics and references being rather sketchy, but I have mr. Conelly's (aka PTConsulting) Schnellboote In Action at hand. I did find a PE fret available for this kit, but over here am-stuff is not readily available and the shipping and taxes would make the fret twice the listed price (so that would be about four times of the kit itself ) so I won't bother with that and do it oob as well.

For less than $20.00 USD, I really think it is a good value. The usual Revell flash and sinkmarks, but, a really nice kit for the money. I like the fact that it is 1/72nd scale as well, easy to work with.
