I saw that article about PT 212 in the latest FSM, stared at it for awhile, and then had a flashback to the days of my youth. Good memories.

Here's the dope on the reissues of the kit, from Dr. Graham's book on the history of Revell:

"H-304 PT 212             1954-61         1/98                   $50-60  [Dr. Graham's estimate of the kit's going price on the collector's market as of the publication date of the book, 2004]

"Gray plastic.  Decal, paper signal flag sheet.  Three figures. Box art by Eidson.

"Reissued as:  HNF-6 Admiral's Fleet (1954); G-311 Victory at Sea (1955); H-396 Motorized PT-212 (1961); H-421 PT 212 (1962); H-306 PT-207 (1966); H-421 PT 212 (1972); H-464 PT 211 (1975)."

Dr. Graham's coverage ends with 1979; I suspect the kit has been reissued since then. The book also doesn't cover reissues under the Revell Germany label.

I don't remember how many times I built this one as a kid; I do remember that the motorized version, with a pair of fresh AA batteries, could really charge across the bathtub.

I imagine everybody's noted that there's a nice article on the kit - by Dr. Graham - in this month's FSM.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

The kit has been released a few times with a different number than PT 212.  You might change your ebay search to Revell, PT and see what you get.  I have the kit that I have worked on and off of for years, trying to get it to look like a real Higgins PT boat!
