I saw the photos of your early work on the hull, and it looks great.  What's that link again for your photo album?

I'd love to work together on it.  But, I'm in the middle of two projects right now.  The Soleil Royal is in rigging, which I'm not in any hurry to do.  I'll do a line every other day or so.  It's pretty tedious.  My main project right now is an OOB 1:96 Revell Constitution.  I'm almost ready to set up her masts.  Rigging this beauty won't take any time at all since it's a display for my son that he wants in his room before he graduates high school...(he's in the 8th grade right now if that gives you any idea of his sarcastic side)

Tell you what, a dual build sounds like a great idea.  Let me actually get the kit (it's in the mail) and do my research on her, get caught up on things and finish college.  I'm in my last semester except for two short classes in May.  Those should be done by July (FINALLY!).  I've already found several different representations of the Chebec, and each has merit.  I tell you what, for it's size, this ship was bristling with guns.  I've also found a few builds of her that look great. And I do want to do this one with sails.  I held off on sails for the large Heller La Reale that's in Jake's room now and you're right.  It just doesn't look balanced.

So, I was thinking maybe we could make it a build to begin in the summer....er...well, for you to pick back up and for me to start.  But it definitely sounds like a plan.  My email is pstanfield38@aol.com.  Give me a holler...

And of course, if anyone else can get hold of this rarity, it was put out under both the Heller and Aurora name.  It is a beautiful ship and I would rank it as #3 or #4 among top plastic kits.

I do have the Big Chebec, I consider it to be one of the top ten Heller did in the larger scales. (except for the stern part)  I have some photo's in my webshots album.  Why don't we work together on it step by step over the next year or so.  I stopped working on it when it came time to mount the cannons. I like the detail the plastic type has, but I think I may replace them with brass turned ones. (about $5.00 each) It's a lot of cannons! It ad up.  my direct email is

jbgroby@charter.net

I can always use fresh ideas.  I was planning on following the Les Wilkins paint scheme from his chebec, It looks rather nice. Are you going to add sails?  With the lanteen rig, I think the sails add a balanced "look".  Call me if you care to also on it. 985-882-9100.

I had some extra resources, so I finally got myself an Aurora/Heller Chebec.  Should be here in a few days and will be put in line (my ever growing line that is) for build.  Does anybody have any good websites I can pick up some good pictures of the kit?

BigJake, weren't you working on the Chebec?  Don't I remember some pictures of yours with you working on the hull?

Thanks,

Grymm
