In need of repair

I'm sure you realize that you "have to" restore that good looking diorama to it's previous glory but perhaps you're still getting over twinges of remorse? It should take a lot less work to fix it than you originally put into it and that signature certainly adds to the motivation. You simply have to and once it's all done your wifey won't be reminded of the accident either. So get going and have fun while you're doing it.

Everything is possible, and I don't see why this wouldn't be. What scale is it in, are the kits still available ?

If they are, and you are missing some little pieces, or the little ones are beyond repair, this would certainly be worth, buying the kits, and use the necessary parts for the repair. Personnally I could not live with the fact of not repairing a dio, or model, signed by a person closely involved in a historic event.

I'm sure you'll be able to restore the dio in its orrigal luster. 

Thanks for the encouragement. The kits are still available they're the 1/700 Hornet and Enterprise with alot of PE. I had about 200 men on the ships (not going to do roll call to make sure they are accounted for). I know I'll need to order some PE sets for some replacements but I think I have all the kit parts.
