#1. A request to see what can be done on those small scale 15 inch Revell models of the cutty sark and constitution (and various others) Primarily MINOR modification and cool paint jobs.

#2.Where do cannonball racks go on the USS constitution. I know im an amature so im just using a muted color tone pallete to create a semi-aged effect (no air brushing or weather)

#3.How do you create that 'wood' appearance on smaller scale ships. I've never done weathering before other than dry brushing and on such small scale ships Mine end up Horrible.

Big old (and a year older) bob

I've done pleanty of the 15" Revell ships all can be built out of the box with no improvements and all turn out quite well.  Although I lost them in the storm (katrina) I waqs thinking about building them again.

Before my basement flooded summer before last, I was building the Constitution to fit into a shadow box.

I was also cutting one apart to make the Constitution as drawn by Chappell.  I had cut the hull down to the gun deck and built it back up with boxwood and styrene.

The Cutty Sark by far has very nice lines when finished.  The only thing that I do not use on these models is the plastic ratlines for these seem to be the only parts that really stand out and look out of scale.   I would either leave them off of make my own with wire, stretch sprue and CA.

Both kits are fun to detail.  Yoy can cut our portholes and use PE rings and doors and other little odds and ends to dress the kit up.

In seeking such photos I have already seen your work. (to Big_Jake)

I am seeking those custom jobs that really make such small kits shine as much as the bigger 1/96 kits. No really major work such as complete deck rebuilds. Just little details here and there. Something that anyone could look at and go "hum.... I could do that". Those golden little boats  who's tiny scale scares the guys used to working on the bigger ones, yet are so attractive to the new enthusiast that there hard to deny a spotlight to.

So turn on the spolight and let them shine. Post those photos of those gems many of us started on then came back to see just what we could do. Wether it be experiments in paintjobs or how far we could get detail.

Let'em'shine!
