Its interesting to see how things one does as a kid turn up later in life, both positively and negatively. It says something, though, that the lady kept that model all those years and returned it to your family. I've built a lot of little projects over the years, some models, some little sculptures, some little woodcarving projects and gave them to various relatives just as a keepsake. It has worked great . The fact is that the doing of the thing is the reward for me,and possession is the reward of others. Sorry about the sorta lame philosophy, but I hope you all see what I mean.

How cool.  And good job considering you built it when you were only 15!

Obviously it means a lot to your mom.   Hopefully it will be on display for many years to come.

Thanks for sharing.

A picture from my past....

I went back to my hometown last week and while visiting, found a model I had built when I was 15.  It is a Revell Bounty, however, I had an english assignment where I had written a short story about a fictitous voyage of a small British packet named HMS Faraday.

I entered a contest where I had won best of show, and afterwards, a lady offered to buy the model.  Well, since I needed money for a car, I sold the Faraday never to see it again.

It appears that the lady was a retired teacher and freind of my family.  When she passed away, my mother got possession of the model and now displays it in her china cabinet.
