1/35 S-100 SCHNELLBOOT BUILD
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, April 22, 2007 6:03 AM

Hi all, Thought some of you who have always wanted a 1/35 Schnellboot would enjoy this.

CG Bob over at RC GROUPS has a very interesting build going on with the 1/35 Tian Jie S-100 Schnellboot kit. The link is  http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=652094

Anyone who may have one of the Tian Jie 1/35 Schnellboot kits (like me) and have been contemplating a build..or anyone wanting a 1/35 RC adaptable S-100 Schellboot (or static display) really ought to give this build a look.

With the soon (?) to be released injected 1/35 Italerei S-100 Schnellboot in the future...This should make for a interesting comparison build.

As the Tian Jie kit stands....it is a worthwhile effort and with the hull being a one piece fiberglass offering will lend itself to RC adaptation while the injected Italerie offering will not be as stable (my guess) in the water.

The kit does have some problems:

1. The instructions- Man...to say these are confusing is the understatement of the year. Some parts are misnoted in the instructions and others are just not shown at all. Bobs build helps "walk one thru" some of these build issues.

2. Some of the items, like the kits weapons...are near useless, being overscaled and ill defined. A great source for 1/35 replacement guns is available from Morgan Stadler (Dream Arts S-UND U-BOOT WORLD in Germany). Morgans 1/35 guns are some of the best out there for the 2cm Zwilling and 3.7cm Flak. I should have a full review of these guns on Hyperscale in the next few weeks but untill then anyone wanting some shots may feel free to conatct me at MDPOWLEN@AOL.COM and I'll shoot some pics off to you.

3. Being a fiberglass hull will mean that some knowledge in this medium would be helpfull.

4. How will it compare to the Italerei injected offering...Dunno...The injected kit will be (hopefully) more detailed than the TJ kit and "should" be a tad easier to build...but will not be as adaptable to RC ...if that is your thing.

Either way...anyone who has wanted to see an ongoing 1/35 Schnellboot build should find Bobs build interesting.

 Take care all,

 Mik
