Anybody seen the actual kit yet?  Hannatts had a posting that it was now available. Any stateside distributors?  Saw several of the actual boats on 2 trips to the UK and have been waiting for the kit!

Ordered it from Hannants last week and am anxiously watching the mailman . Hope it doesn't turn out to be vapourware.

I'm no expert on British lifeboats, but on the basis of those photos this appears to be an outstanding kit.  Maybe the best ship/boat ever from this manufacturer.

What great news!  Long live Airfix!

The photos look fantastic.  Can't wait til it is available stateside! Looks like I may even be able to use the kit decals to model one of the RNLI stations we visited!

I'll probably be buying this kit within the next few days. Airfix's kit was apparently designed with the help of the RNLI so is presumably very accurate! The mouldings certainly look very detailed (complete with in-scale moulded railings). Looks like a very worthy addition to their range of 1/72 boats. It'd be interesting to see kits other RNLI boats in the future, either current or historic types.

I have a 1/35 R/C Severn-class lifeboat, and the Airfix kit will be a very useful reference for detailing this (the R/C boat is a fairly simple ready-to-run model)!

YEAH ! There he is (the mailman that is). Nice work Hannant's, ordered on april 18th and it arrived today, the 27th here in Holland. Looks very good, maybe not as crisp as Tamiya and Hasegawa but still sharp enough for washes etc. Lots of interior detail and all in all seems worth the 31 Euro's it took to get it over to Holland fast (been looking forward to this model since it was first announced so I was not inclined to wait until it hit the shops here in Holland).Just a few quickie snaps to wet your appetites:

Just wondering if I shall suspend the Constitution build and tuck into this or be a patient modeler and wait for etched metal add ons for the Severn. Hmm, decisions, decisions............

In discussions on this subject last year somebody mentioned there would be crew figures with this kit, but it is apparently not so - very disappointing.  I was also let down by Alanger's re-release of Frog's old Oakley Class Life Boat, guess what - no figures any more!
