i had the same issue when i did the rigging for my 350 scale yamato from tamiya, so i just used stretched sprue, tweezers and a buttload of patience.

cotton thread? I'm an idiot when it comes to attaching cables. i refrain from using cotton because i live in the humid tropics. when i got nylon i refrained from attaching it because i was afraid to screw up....doh.

Hi all

I'm also in the process of finishing my Type XXI sub, but in my case is the MiniHobbies in 1/144 (ex-Trumpeter from 1997 mould).

In my case I opted for very little rust and just a few patches of discolouration and oil.
I'm planning of posting a few photos on the web soon, I'll let you know when that happens

Happy modelling

I mean the thread, what thread do you use for the radio cables and railings.

On second thought after looking at your pics in photobucket your type XXI's rust is a bit wide(each rust stroke you made is a bit wide, use the slimmer side brush as rust tend to go long but not wide) but then again it's a matter of taste. She's brand new when the war ended so perhaps a little thinner/slimmer rust will do. But still a showcase piece. Better than most sub model i've seen on the web though obviously there are those insanely perfect models.

Make a display case for her to put in your selected room. Don't let the dust to settle in.

Hay

Thx for comments!

The kit is from Revell Germany

The scale is 1/144! the sub. is 53,1 cm long!

What do you mean with rigged?? Beacause I don't understand!

Maybe I'm going to make another foot for the sub. to stand on!

Wow great model there. I'm a fan the u-boots and your XXI feels right. Great paintjob. No the rust is not too much. Great work congrats it's a show case piece.

What the scale btw? Manufacturer? the length in cm?

what do you use for the rigging btw. I have had my Revell's VIIC/41 for a few weeks and it hasn't been rigged. I'm afraid to screw it up

Going to try that with the Tamiya weathering masters! Don't know if this good to finisch the model!? What do you think??
