What's the best large scale Titanic model around

Well i don't own an airbrush and the canned spray would cost at least another 30. You know in the place i live the average monthly salary of a fresh graduate is a mere US$200 and the imports sold here is at least the same price as those sold in the US many are even sold for much more. Not everybody lives in developed country.

If 45 bucks is too rich for your blood, then the 500 dollar Titanic hull kit in 1:144 scale is probably too much also

Well after visiting the hobby shop i decided that US$45.00 is a bit too much for me. The academy 's Titanic will have to wait besides i don't think i have the commitment to build her. I bought Revell's Type 212A sub instead. It's a very easy model kit. Thx God with the new Revell's mould. When i built Revell's VIIC/41 it was a somewhat painful experience since i was used to building easier, better fit models of Tamiya.

model expo has a plank on bulkhead by mantua nodels. it's 1/200 and is 53" long. of course at $1200 it isn't for the faint hearted.

Well my choice of kit is rathre limited. I've got only Academy's 1/400 Titanic which the box says won a Fan model award back in 1998. Is this kit good enough. In terms of mold precision(fitting), model shape accuracy, easyness of building

 

I'm not a pro modeller is this Titanic kit a really big undertaking? should non-pro modeler avoid it? Is it easy to construct? I've got a link to the association of titanic builders. Gosh there is one such association.

The largest and most correctly detailed kit is the 1/350th. Minicraft Version, it's right at 30" long.  Myself and several other modeler helped Minicraft make the needed corrections and inprovements on this kit back in 1992.  I just finished another one for a client yesterday.  I have some pictures in my webshots album, I'll up load the rest this week.

You can get the kit in two versions, with and without metal etched brass railings.  These are provided for by Gold Metal Models.  However, all you get are the railings kit with the plactic model. I usually also buy the full GMM set with gives you the following, crain hooks, boat davit rigging and others items.

Also if you buy one off ebay, make sure you get the UPDATED kit, ther are a ton of the wrong kits still out there.  ou can email me direct if you want some pointers.
