I believe all of the IJN Pearl Harbor attack carriers are available in 1/350 scale from Hasegawa, Tamiya, Fuijimi, and that some others (like the very large 80,000 ton carrier) they produced from what was originally to be 3rd Yamamoto BB along with a few others from other Japanese vendors...but they are spendy for plastic models. Most can be found on eBay:
ijn Zuika
ijn Zuikaku
ijn Hiryu
ijn Shokaku
IJN Kaga
ijn Taihu
ijn Zuiho
ijn Nihon
ijn Toku
ijn Unryu
ijn Hosh
ijn Kysho
ijn Shinano

gjek 1/350 Akagi
Given what the a/m PE costs for the 1/700 kit . . .
There is a 1/450 scale model by Hasegawa of the Shinano out there.
Hasegawa
Junyo came out in the last decade
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
IronCross1939It would be interesting to see a kit from the converted Yamato hull into the Carrier named Shinano.

How about the Zuikaku sisters? Was present at Pearl Harbor and Coral sea, missed the holocaust at Midway, but was around for sinking in Lyete Gulf.
A more modern and in many ways better carrier than Hiuyu, and lasted longer and offer more configuration possibilities than Akagi or Kaga.
I don't like either Akagi or Kaga. They can't hold a candle to their contemporay and equivalent Lexington and Saratoga in either looks or design.
modelbuilder,
That's probably the 1/450 Akagi from Hasegawa. It's relatively old (I got mine in the late 1980's and it had been around for a while even then), but it's not a bad looking kit. Haven't built it yet, of course, but I look in the box occasionally and dream - the aircraft are pretty good quality (you get a handful of Vals, Zekes and Kates - 6 each, I think) and the quality seems to me to be pretty good overall. (Gold Medal Models makes a PE set for this kit too, I think.)
And gjek, Nichimo made a 1/500 (or thereabouts) Ise (or Hyuga) with flight deck aft - the quality is far from great, but it's big and it exists, so it at least can provide raw material for an ambitious modeler.

Back before Christmas while shopping I saw a 1/400 Akagi at a local hobby shop. I do ont remember the manufacturer though
Put me down for a Takao & I would love to see a 1/350th IJN Carrier. Akagi, Kaga, Hiryu, Soryu....would be happy with any of these.
Plese don't be heartless to the wife by trading her car. Let her keep it, just don't give her any money for petrol until you have funded the ship
Oh, I can definitely see myself in one of those 1/350 cruisers - but a carrier would be nirvana. A Kongo, even!
"Umm - honey, I just traded in your car."
"Really? What did you get me?"
"Well, have you heard much about the new Takao model?"

A report J_Aircraft of an overheard conversation at the Shizuoka Toy Show mentions that the some kit designers are having trouble locating sufficiently detailed plans to produce a kit of the Soryu

They are learning. If they don't get it right they will get blasted and sales will not be up to expectations.
