Trip to Toronto, Ontario, CA June 23rd - 27th. Nauticle stuff in the area?

I was asked this morning to take a trip to Canada in June to speak of Water & Wastewater plant Damage from the Hurricane.  I would love to hook up with other FSM Forum members/modelers in the area. The conferance is at Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Since I really don't know the area too well, I have no idea where the townships/cities fall. Are there any Ship Museum or nauticle museum in the area?

I'll be staying at:
Days Hotel & Conference Centre Toronto Downtown
30 Carlton Street
Toronto, Ontario. Canada
M5B 2E9

Maybe I can bring some of our New Orleans REAL coffee & Chickory for you fine folks?

There are plenty of great hobby shops in the Toronto area and the surrounding areas. Check the back of your issue of Fine Scale Modeler for the addresses and plot a map from your hotel to each.

As far as museums or nautical themed areas of interest. Check www.toronto.ca it is the official website of the city. You are coming to Ontario at a great time of year. There is plenty to see and do, not to mention eat.

In the surrounding area there are plenty of museums and things to see as well. The last surviving Tribal Class Destroyer in the world HMCS Haida www.hmcshaida.ca is permanently berthed at Hamilton which is a half hour drive from Toronto. The only flying Lancaster Bomber in North America is at the Canadian Warplane Heritage museum in Hamilton as well www.warplane.com In Burlington, (20 min drive) is the Battle of the Atlantic Memorial.

So YES there is lots to see and do during your time off. So bring a camera, and a couple pairs of good walking shoes.

Cheers;

Gregory

The Ontario Science Centre is having an exhibit on the Titanic. The last time I was there they had an excellent collection of model ships, including a workstation where someone was building models. However, I see no mention of it on their website
