Was the "Love Boat" a Real Ship?

Or was it just a bunch of sets and a few shots of some other cruise ship?

Real ships.  Also the twin Island Princess, and a few others for exotic cruises.

It was the Pacific Princes.  The last I saw about this ship was that it was for sale for either to be used as a cruise ship or to be scrapped in India.

I'm sorry.  I meant to say the Pacific Princess was the primary star, with her sister the Island Princess standing in occassionally.

Even juicier is that after the Pacific Princess was moved to the second-rate cruise ship buisiness, she got busted for being used in a drug smuggling ring in the Med in 2002.  How the mighty fall...

I sailed on her when I was 8, on a cruise to Bermuda with my parents(1973). She was originally a Norwegian ship called MS Sea Venture, then went on to the Pacifi princess fame.

She is still around, if you can trust Wikipedia, and cruising the Pacific for an outfit called CVC. Follow the link, that obviously Photoshopped profile of her with the neon strips and name is hysterical!

Loose Cannon Productions had a nice little resin kit of her, but it is currently listed as OOP. If enough interest is shown, Dave Angelo might be induced to crank out a few more.
