HELP!!!! looking for a ship model
Posted by DougBrown_in_CT on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 9:13 PM

I am looking for the Plastic Model Kit 1:72 Tamiya PT-15 JMSDF Torpedo Boat (motorized version only) - if you know anyone please contact my email address douglas_in_ct@cox.net

What I truly need are the motorized components in this kit as it will fit almost perfectly with my 1/35scale torpedo boat

A motor kit for a 72nd scale pt is going to be WAY to wimpy for a 35th scale. I did the 32nd scale Lindburg, scrapped the entire motor set that came with the model and installed a pair of 19 turn 540s at 7.2 volt with 2.5 to 1 belt drives that get the model up on plain pretty nicely. The motor and gear set that comes with a 72nd can not possibly get a 35th scale model up on top the water.

I've seen other guys do it with a single 540 at 14 volt but the motor has a short run time and gets VERY hot.
