as for the scale the model measures 18 and 1/8 inches oa not at the waterline but at the very tip of the bow to the stern

the ship per  this web site  http://www.ussramsey.org/about_ram.html is 414 ft 7 in

18 1/8 round out to 18.1" times 275 = 4977.5 in  div by 12 (for 12 in to a foot) = 414.8 ft

anyway going through my stash want to start up again

ran across a uss ramsey by monogram  1/275th scale it has raised panel lines on the hull but pics i saw of the real thing show large raised lines on the real hull so....

and a italeri 1/720th uss nassau

does anyone have any opions on either ship



The Ramsey isn't as bad as some of the other ship models of the era by any means. IIRC you are even spared the chore of removing molded on railings! The scale is odd (and you had best check that number you are using as I believe it to be closer to 1/300). The detail is a little crude but you can probably pick up a set of detail parts in brass from Gold Medal Models that will turn this ship into a decent model. You will be doing a lot of gap filling, that's for sure.
