Canadian Update - Ship related
Posted by Big Jake on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 9:26 PM

Today was the a free day I had away from the Conferance, so I spent it the best way you can think of. First, I went to the Ontario Science Center and watched an IMAX film called "Titanica" Impressive! in the Domed Imax setup. Then walked through the artifact collection that was on display from the salvage operation. The Center had an entire section of the First Class Passenger hallway and suite setup exaclty as the real ship, also a mock up of the massive boilers. It ended in a gift shop, of course so I scooped up a few items, mugs etc.

After that I went sailing on a 165' gaff rigged 3 masted scooner called Kajama (website below) It was a working cruise so I volunteered to work the lines and hoisted the main sail. When the crew started singing some old sailing songs, I piped right in and surprised the crewmates by knowing the words to them, "Away Rio", "Drunken Sailor" and "Maid of Amsterdam" which had everyone laughing when the phase "I placed my hand upon her patch, she said Young man thats my main hatch" (HA I knew those old songs would come in handy) I got a free cap and t-shirt (although it 's only xl, it won't me, but the wife will like it).

The company has one other sailing ship called the Challenger, but she was booked our for the rest of the day or I would have taken the next cruise on her too!  I deffently will come back up here with the wife, next year.  Yesterday we drove through the wine region, stopped at a few wineries and hit Niagra Falls and scored a great wine bottle holder a few bottles of wine and a new wine I have never tried called Ice wine, pricy buy good.

I see you guys back in New Orleans ;)

Jake
