Calypso help please

Broken, no, she's not worth that much.

I'd tear all the railings off, replace the stanchions with brass rod, and rig the lines with nylong quilting thread or an appropriate thickness of fishing line.

Just remember to take photos BEFORE you tear the rails off, so you can replicate what's there.

You can probably get the correct (or nearly so) brass stanchions from The Dromedary or other large ship model supplier.
Use a pin vise to drill holes to set the stanchions into the deck. Mark each stanchion location with an awl if it is not clear where they are being removed from.
I would use Jeff's suggestion of the fishing line; monofilament takes paint and will not sag like thread.

Then there is the more simple and less expensive method I used when I built mine: Stretched Sprue. Fortunately, I didn't have as many broken railings as that on my kit. Still, if you are a master modeller, go with those other suggestions, it will make for a much more attractive model.

As to valueof the kit, I'd heard from a member of my IPMS club that an original still in the shrink wrap is worth hundreds, but I've not been able to confirm that independently.

I wish I woulda known that before I ripped the shrink wrap off of mine!

Actually, I got it off eBay for about $40. Turned out nice, and it was alot of fun to build.
