Help with Revell's USS Lionfish
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, July 8, 2007 8:08 AM

Hello:

My son and I are building Revell's 1/220 USS Lionfish.  He wants to paint the camouflage scheme pictured on the kit's box.  Two questions: is it prototypical?  how would we paint it?  (we plan to start by airbrushing Ocean Gray 5-0 on top and Antifouling Red on the bottom).

Thanks so much, wikksmith

That's not a camouflage scheme, just an attampt at some weathering with a lighter shade of gray.  Here's a link for the Measure 10 all gray scheme.

Also the anti-fouling on a wartime submarine is black.  Additionally there are no hull numbers carried during wartime.

You might also check a build of the big Gato sub in the measure 32/9SS scheme at http://steelnavy.com/Gato72nd.htm
