GOOD MODELLER ALERT!!!!!
Posted by kustommodeler1 on Saturday, July 14, 2007 2:13 AM

I would like to call everyone's attention to styrenegyrene. He has went completely above and beyond the call of duty in helping a fellow modeller (me) in helping see a vision in my 16" Cutty Sark come true. He did not have to take the time and trouble to do what he did.

So lets have a round of applause for styrenegyrene, a very valuable asset to this board, and the scale modeling community.!!!!!!!

Typical of the USMMC (United States Model Marine Corp). First on the build table, last off. Always willing to do the hard job without complaint. Hear, hear! Thumbs Up [tup]

So long folks!

Can I tell a Bull Halsey anecdote in ship forum?

During the battle for Guadalcanal, Halsey visited Archie Vandegrift, the Marine commander on the island.  Vandegrift's cook managed to put together an apple pie, and after dinner, Halsey called for the cook.  According to legend, The Bull said, "Sergant, that's the best ^)(*^$)#@ apple pie I ever ate."

The sergeant ripped off his cover and looked at the deck, and said, "Aww, bull**** Admiral.  You don't have to say that!"

So, you're welcome.  Some things are too meaningful to hoard.  I'm sure I'll take far more from this forum than I could ever give!  Semper Fidelis, Mates.

The Halsey story is true. Greg Boyington was present the night Admiral Halsey complemented the cook.

I read it in his book, "Baa Baa Black Sheep".
