Just bear in mind that while Google Earth has some great photos, in many cases they are several years old.

The U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) controls the mothball fleet, also known as the National Defense Reserve Fleet (NDRF).  You can find details at this link, including an inventory of ships.  http://www.marad.dot.gov/Ship%20Disposal/Update%20March%202007/Ship%20Disposal%20front.html

As far as pictures, I would suggest trying Google Earth, and homing in on the James River Reserve Fleet at Fort Eustis, Va.; the Beaumont Reserve Fleet in Beaumont, Texas; and the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet at Benicia, Calif., from above.  I've seen some close-up pics of individual ships from time to time at various web sites -- there's one right there on the web page above, looks like an old MSC range tracking ship.
