Dan, like many other warships from Mini Hobby, this is a copy-cat of Tamiya's PT-815 (PT-15).
I've seen the RC version of this boat, very cheap, it's the same size and for only $16 you get everything including battery & charger and radio controller.

Hey, MM, I suppose the rc version you saw must be another version, the one I had was about 80 cm long (sorry dunno what that would be in inches) and would cost a couple of hundred dollars to set it up.

the build is top notch  but the coloring is a bit sparse the ammo for the guns could use a some color

even if they are supposed to be the same color as the boat ( i don't know because i am not familar with the  modern japanese defence forces) but even a darker gray wash to give some definition to the ammo

Many thanks for your kind comments!

Paul, yes, this is a Japanese Navy PT boat.

Dan, like many other warships from Mini Hobby, this is a copy-cat of Tamiya's PT-815 (PT-15).
I've seen the RC version of this boat, very cheap, it's the same size and for only $16 you get everything including battery & charger and radio controller. But the details are not as good as the model version. The aft gun is supposed to be faced at rear. I guess "Tuk" the builder wanted to do something different. My former PT-815 which was built by another modeler named "Niphon" has it aft gun in 'normal' position:

Nice boat you've got there.  Are these the same molds as Tamiya version ?  I used to have this boat as an rc model, of course a lot bigger from Robbe.  I always liked this boat but I naver had any background information about it.

But euh, isn't that aft gun supposed to be faced at rear ?
