"Woodships", "plasticships", "tallships", whateverships. The primary difference is the materials used for the hull, deck furniture, small boats, etc. Once past that, the rigging is virtually identical. I suppose, wood ship modelers think they have an exclusive ownership ("dealership", "oneupsmanship") on rigging techniques, but the reality is that many plastic ship modelers do as accurate a rigging job as any of the woodship modelers. There's a lot of really good rigging information here, as well as painting, displaying, etc. of ship models. So, while the debate over wood, Vs plastic may not contain much "sportsmanship", here you will find "seamanship", a good "membership", and best of all " friendship",...... which also happens to be a type of sloop.
