I'm going to start the Yamato for my next project and had a few questions? what is the best way to fill the seam in the three deck pieces? does it go together well like other tamiya subjects? any other comments would be helpful. thanks

Had to go downstairs to check mine out since it was built a few years ago. I didn't fill the seams, and the one next to the conning tower-bridge superstructure is just barely noticable, I couldn't even find the rear one, so yes, the fit is excellent. Filling the seams in my opinion would be difficult without screwing up the deck detail. The only thing this kit needs is a detail set , such as offered by Tom's Modelworks, to really bring it to life.

Seams? Are you talking about the newest iteration 1/700 waterline model? There is no deck seam except at the breakwater, so it's cleverly disguised.

Now if you are talking Tamiya's 1/700 waterline Scharnhorst, now THERE is a problem with deck seams.   Banged Head [banghead]

Thought you were talking about the 1/350th. If not disregard.

My solution was a little extreme.  I discarded the main deck and scratchbuilt my own out of real wood strips.  But I'm also backdating the ship to as commissioned in Dec '41.  So I had to show more deck than the kit did anyways.

That's both a impressive solution and a less tedious one than the one I am trying.
