I was afraid that was what you were looking for. I seriously doubt that you will ever see photos of her screws, actually in the process of moving her through the water. Those pictures would have to be taken with a remote camera, very firmly attached to the hull. A photographer, in the water, close enough to see the screws as she passed over, or by, at any speed, would be sucked into the screws. I'll let your imagination complete that picture. There might be some stills, or videos, demonstrating cavitation, which, while not the Enterprise's screws, would be as good a representation as you could get. Having plotted her on radar, I'd suggest pouring water into a blender, and using a highspeed camera to record the effect, first at slow rpm, then at max rpm......double the effect of max rpm, and you'll come close to the real thing. She wasn't hitting "warp speed", but I still don't believe that anything could push that much salt water out of the way that fast!, and the flow of water through her screws was considerably faster than she was moving.

If I remember correctly from my old Navy days (CVs), when we would go to flank speed, the maximum RPM we would ask for from engineering was something like 280. We could probably ask for more, I guess, but the hull would only go but so fast no matter how much coal (not literally, for you wise-guys out there) you could throw on the fire. But the rooster tail at the fantail was HUGE! Sometimes, when they are empty, you can see the top third of a freighter's screw while it is underway. Impressive.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Look thru the photo galleries at Boatnerd.com .  Yes, the pictures will be of great Lakes freighters, but you'll get the general idea.  You can also search for "video" on the SubCommittee message boards.
