HMS Ark Royal (Revell)
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, October 18, 2007 4:05 PM

Hello,

I found a Revell-kit with the HMS Ark Royal + Tribal Class Destroyer (1:720).
But I found that the papers are missing if there were any.
Does anyone have this kit and could I get a copy of the included papers?

If not, does anyone know where I could find a manual?
I tried the Revell-wesbite(s), but there isn't much to find there.
Well, I found a manual of another kit through searching the internet,
while the source was an official Revell-wesbite I believe.
But I couldn't find like links to manuals on the same Revell-website.

Well, in any way I would like to finish the ships instead of leave it lying around in a box.
It might be a bit hard since I haven't done much like this before and it's "Level 4".
But it's nice to work on and see what I can do.

Yes please, that would help me out a lot.

Would you also know where I could get the same glue needed to build the model?
Because I ever took it away from the kit to fix other things, and I don't know where it is now.
It might also have dried or at least the needle-thing got clogged, but I'm no expert...

I have created a PDF of the directions and will send them to you when I get your email address.

As to glue, I would suggest that you go to your local hobby shop and pick up some Model Master Liquid Cement for plastic models. It is much easier to use than tube cement as it is a different formulation.

You may wish to post another question regarding the proper colors to paint your ships in that kit as you have both the Ark Royal and a Tribal Class destroyer in the box. The painting instructions included in the directions are not the best information that you can obtain. Should you go to a vendor like White Ensign Models, on line, in the UK, they will be happy to advise the correct colors (colours) and can sell you the exact shades of paint you will need to finish the model in its correct colors. Judging by your last question, I think you are not a regular modeller, are you ?

Anyway, you just go to your local hobbyshop and ast for liquid cement.  Avoid tubes at any rate, only use either the liquid cement, which is sold in a little glass bottle with a fine brush in it, or the  more "gelly" type that comes in a soft(er) plastic container with a hollow needle to apply it.

Some names : Revell (either the needlepoint variaty or the liquid type), Tamya, Humbrol, Tennax, Faller ...

On the bench : Revell's 1/125 RV Calypso

The directions should be in your email inbox right now. A large file is attached which may take a while to download depending on your internet connection. I hope that this will assist you to build these models.

It is the right set of directions, there was only one kit of this type issued by Revell. WS

No I'm actually not a modeller at all, I just had 2 kits lying around and I'd just like to try them.
And yeah, the kit actually included the Revell with a needlepoint, which I'd like to have again.
I think I know 1 or 2 shops around her, I could check there some time.
But I think one of them is gone and the other one if more like RC-business, big fuel-driven ones and such too.

But, should the Revell-glue/cement do, or should I go more "aftermarket"?
You would think since it was inclucded it should be good,
but you have those cases that products come with bad stuff.
Only, I don't think so since I got a drop of the stuff into a pair of pants once...
It's still in there, this small rockhard patch, it's amazing. XD
