Does anyone know (or care) what (if anything) is happening with the last surviving corvette, HMCS Sackville?
The reason for my question stems from an article in the Ottawa Citizen on March 26, 2007 by Victor Suthern. In summary, the article said that the vessel might face the wrecking hammer if adequate funding could not be found for her upkeep.
The web site for the owner of the vessel, the Canadian Naval Memorial Trust, has been down for at least a couple of weeks with no direction to another site. The vessel is usually berthed at and exhibited by the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic at 1675 Lower Water Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Museum's web site lists current exhibitions but it makes no reference to the Sackville.
It would be a shame to loose such a historical vessel. Is that what is happening?
