Neat Idea: 1/175th Scale

I'm with you Ed, 144th is already here and supported as you say.

 I am 'tinkering' with Coastal Forces craft in 144th using the excellent (card) models from "Coastal Forces in Paper" to begin with. He (Horst) has produced two versions of the Fairmile A class, a Fairmile C class MGB and he's now working on the first of four versions of the Fairmile B class ML. I think I'll have to try and convince him to do a 'dog' boat which is the Fairmile D MGB/MTB. He also does some other coastal type ships including a Motor Minesweeper and a small Freighter to name a couple.

Watch this space for preliminary shots of the 144th models I'm working on, plus a couple in 72nd scale !!!

1:144 is already there.   Half the size of 1:72.

In ships, 1:144 is already supported by Trumpeter (LCM, Gato (two of 'em)), Dragon (LCAC), and RoG (couple of U-boats).  Whats this Yamato post down the board?    1:144 is supported by the aftermarket (White Ensign, Nautilus Models, etc.).  N-scale (1:160) is close to 1:144, and is supported by various railroad detail sets as well as Iron Shipwright.    Dragon supports the scale with aircraft, as does Sweet, Platz, Trumpeter to name a  few.  Can-Do, Dragon, and Trumpeter cover the 1:144 armor scale.

Add to that the traditional ship modeling of 1:192 scale (metric 1:200).  There are some, and growing, including an Arizona soon.

There is no real market for a smaller than 1:144 but larger than 1:192 (or 1:350).

We don't need another scale with more of the same subjects (Oh boy! another Yamato!).   We need more and diverse subjects in the scale which are out there now.
