1/350 Nagato

I finally have obtained a 1/350 Nagato at the 'reasonable' price of $160, and have been looking through the box contents and have a few questions that perhaps some other readers might be able to answer.... First off, the hull is molded with what I believe are supposed to represent plate joins, but these are molded in such a regular pattern, it looks more like some sort of computer-generated grid pattern for establishing the model's lines!  Does anyone know more about this?  Also, they appear 'overmolded' to such a depth that I think I may have to do a fair bit of filling and sanding to make these less obtrusive.  Am I wrong to do so?  Second, the kits hull has a bunch of interior bulkheads that seem to serve no other purpose than to create mounts for the secondary armament (there are others in the superstructure as well).  As these are supposed to go in in the first step, yet the secondary casemate guns don't get installed until much later in the build program, is there likely to be a problem 'popping' in these guns?  Shouldn't these guns be installed at the same time as the bulkheads?  I don't want to find myself way down the construction road only to find myself stymied trying to lever in these gun casemates!  Anyone who has experience in building this one, your advice is most welcome!
