Footy and m505 Radio Control Sailboats

Thought I would show you several small sailboats I have made from wood, then a mold, then reproduced in fiberglass.

The Footy is a 12" sailboat named the Puddle Pirate Sport and started working on a new version-J/24 Footy.  Last one is the Rimfire, a m505 class sailboat that is 19 7/8" long.

Great fibreglass work.Bow [bow]Bow [bow] Used to race R/C sailboats for about 15 years up and down the east coast. Main boats raced were the Soling 50/800 and the Santa Barbara, both from Vortex. Have a few trophies hanging on the wall and on top of the file cabinet.Big Smile [:D] The green boat looks a lot like a fun boat all the club members made. It was totally out of a 4 X 8 sheet of marine plywood. The mast was a 3' dowel from the hardware store. Fittings were everyday items that worked.  Simple to make, cheap, and easy to sail. The mold work on that one you show is OUTSTANDING.Thumbs Up [tup] I tried my hand at it ONCE. Total disaster.Yuck [yuck] The largest boat I made was a 6' "A" boat with an 8' Aluminum mast. It's been many, many years since I made her, but I think I copied her from the lines of the "Ranger". Got out of R/C sailboats about 20 years ago. One, it got too expensive, and two, it got TOO competitive. Like to see someone still building them though instead of just going to the LHS and plopping down who knows how much now. Keep up the good work. Post more pics.
