As I said, it was SUPPOSED to have been released in July, but but because a lot of people complained about previous productions, they pulled it to make it more accurate, and it should be out around February, or March...... And I have had one on pre-order since last Feb!!!  You can pre-order one on Freetimehobbies.com

Sometimes I wonder if I have just dreamt this, rather than seen heard, read about it!

Just WHERE IS this bloody 1/350 Repulse kit? It's going on for 12 months since we first heard of it.

I'm rapidly losing interest I must tell you.

It has not yet been released.  It was supposed to have come out in July, but apparently there were some accuracy problems that needed to be addressed, and now it doesn't look like it will be available much before February (and I pre-ordered mine LAST February!)......

Me too!  The original release date was supposed to be June/July, but that has long since come and gone... That said, I would rather wait if they are going to get it right!

There were many problems with the kit pointed out by some knowledgable posters on SteelNavy and ModelWarships with the release of the photos; inconsistancies in details for time periods. I'm hoping that they are working towards fixing those issues.

I've had HMS Repulse on 'preorder' since last February.... I can only think that Trumpeter must have either had to do some serious revisions, or they are having production problems......

FROM AL TORRE on SteelNavy 21 Occt 2008

"The Trumpeter 1/350 Repulse might hit the United Kingdom by Christmas 2008, and the Prinz Eugen some time in the second quarter, at least that was the buzz at the show. Don't know how true that is.

What does blow is that all the prices of the consortium 1/700 WL will all go up by the end of the year. If you are contemplating buying that Repulse or E class you should do so now. Fujimi is offering a mild increase (They are not members of the Consortium!)

The Aoshima 1/350th 5000t cruisers were not at the show because they were not ready- not that they were not going to happen. Myoko's too- just not ready. Aoshima noticed that if they announce they had better be ready to deliver. Sales of Aoshima products have been good- if you haven't bought a Aoshima Kongo, you should. Regarding the Shokaku and Fuso- maybe?

Hasegawa's Akagi was the star of the show. Also the major gripe of the show- It's perfect except for one inherent defect- the outrageous price. However 40+year old builders with the income may just pony up and buy it. They will also have a new ship project- what it will be I don't know. Security is tight. Death penalty for those who spill the beans.

Fujimi is still on schedule to release the Ise in December, but if you want this beast you had better buy it. Rumour is that it will be a strict limited release only. The model is excellent. The botched casemates have bitten into sales domestically, but sales worldwide are ok.
It's been said that foreign buyers don't know better. Sad if true- after all all you have to do is look at the box art and the error is obvious. Nothing on the Shokaku's, probably on hold because of the Kongo disaster.

Tamiya's reception for the Yukikaze was lukewarm. Let's see what happens next. Tamiya did good this year, and does intend to release some new 1/700 ships. They will be OTIJN, so that should be fun for you 1/700 fans.

[i]Trumpeter insists that the Repulse at the model show is not going to be what we will actually get. All breathe a collective sigh of relief. I think the Repulse might be well done. Man, the Prinz Eugen is awesome.

Lastly,

Don't let the negative fool you. Sales are good in Japan despite tightening of the belts. Sales of Robots and cars remain steady and good. All this means is that some development will inevitably slow down. But perhaps that's for the best. It might be time for us to actually build some of our stash?

Cheers,

Al "

I remember when White Ensign was talking about producing a 1/350 Repulse a long time ago.... I have also heard (never have bought one of their resin models) that they do produce very accurate models (if expensive!), so I hope this all comes to a good result, as Repulse is one of my all-time favorite ships.....

Seems White Ensign Models have supplied their 1/350 resin Master to Trumpeter for their forthcoing Repulse kit.

"We supplied our 1/350 resin master pattern, and appropriate plans, to them for this kit. Yep, it was plainly obvious that we were never going to produce it in resin due to the costs involved  so we made sure all you folks were going to get one anyway, so if they adhered to what they were sent, it should be accurate. Let's all wait and see,"

Cheers

Let us now hope that Trtumpeter don't foul this one up eh.

Yes Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus!!!  HMS Repulse is one of my all-time favorite ships, with lines that make even HMS Hood look like an old cow!!  As far as the cruisers go, looks like a lot of repackaging of the San Francisco, but what the heck, it is a good class!  Yay!!!  Now all I have to do is get a hold of one of those 1/350 Kongo's coming out, and my collection will be complete (until the next cool release!)!  I started a thread a month or two ago about requesting new 1/350's, and Repulse was top of my list.... Seems the manufacturing guys actually DO read this stuff!   Now if only some bright spark would come out with a 1/350 Prinz Eugen.......

Yup. My tamiya HMS Repulse arrived ysterday - nice kit.

For those having trouble navigating to MWS.

Go to the modelwarships.com site - via the link in a previous post above.

Hit 'Enter site' button. This takes you to the front page of their website.

On the left hand side of the screen, you'll see a column of buttons - Forget the 'What's New' thing and hit the one marked 'Forum'. This will take you to a forum index page. Hit 'Main forum' and you'll be preesented with a page of topic threads, Hit 'Trumpeters new ships' and read on........! Here's a direct link. Can't cut & paste links here with Firefox for some reason, so I've typed it out.

When I try to go to "modelwarship.com" I end up at an "under construction" site that deals with 1/72-scale warship models.  What's the secret?

While that's getting sorted out - here's another piece of pleasant news that just landed out of the blue on the Squadron mail order site:  http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=TM31617

Later edit:  I think I found part of the problem.  When I went to www.modelwarships.com (note the second S) I found a link to Trumpeter - but couldn't find any reference to any of the new kits other than the San Francisco.  What am I doing wrong?
