Copper Plating Tip *pic*

While working on the HMS Victory, I was concerned with how I might feel if any of the very small slivers of copper plating on the bottom of the ship fell off over time.  If any did, there would end up being a jag in the copper plating line and it would end up looking funny.  So I thought this was sort of a cool way to deal with it and I figured I would share.

I used some of that copper tape that you can get at stained glass stores and used it to mark out my upper copper plating line.  The when I cut and placed each copper plate, if I was off just a little, you'd have to look real hard to see it because the copper tape below would show through and give you the sense of a complete plate.  So, if any fall off over time I won;t have to worry too much about it initially because it won't be as noticable.

This tape comes in varying widths and I used a 3/16 inch wide tape.  Worked great.
