Is there a model that might look more like the 1914 texas that i could use to scratch build one?any 40's ship i think would have too much to try and remove, hull, deck etc..

If you were to build a 1914 from a 1944....

1) You could only build it waterline because the torpedo bulges have to come off.

2) Everything above the main deck would have to go. Only the funnel and main guns could be used.

3) you would have to find a way to make the cage masts....Tom's Modelworks does make some, maybe you could improvise with those.

It would en up being about 75% scratchbuilt. I guess it could be done but it would be almost easier to scratch build the whole thing.

USS Texas 1914 kit??
Posted by scottmh59 on Saturday, January 5, 2008 1:49 PM

Does anyone know if a 1914 USS Texas kit exist?I have the 1898,and 1944 kit and would love to build BB35 as it looked when first built, but i have not seen one any where.

Or does anyone have any ideas about making a custom from another similar looking ship?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments..scott
