Rigging Thread/ Material
Posted by Big Jake on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 7:39 PM

I recieved a supply of rigging material from Model Shipways for the Flying Fish kit. The standing riging material is a bit on the light side for the lower stays so I switched over to a slightly heavy crochet thread and after waxing it down it looks perfect.

The tan "thread" from MSW looks "fake". I'm not impressed, I don't know how they make it, but it's almost solid plastic. Although it looks good in texture, it's transparent, some of it looks like monofiliment.

I went to the local sewing center and found a brand of crochet thread called DMC with the following "Catalog number" (842 N 10) it a perfect texture holds it shape grat and when waxed look perfect, they have about 40 colors 2 blacks, several browns, and a few tans.  heck this out when you get a chance.
