Interesting - I never realized the turret tops were brightly colored. Nobody seems to get it right in the kits that I've seen.

Rather new, that article is a year old.  

The evidence for colored turret tops on US battleships has been in front of our eyes for many years.  It was dismissed as sun glints or shadows on black & white photos.  Only when some researchers (Tracy White, et. al.) finally dug through the archives trying to corroborate the ship's paint colors did they come up with the orders to paint the turrets
