USN colors for mid to late 1950s
Posted by peterj on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 3:57 AM
I'm converting Trump's 1/700 USS Pittsburgh to the USS Helena (CA-75), outfitted with the Regulus missile in the mid to late 1950s. I'm sticking with her early Regulus appearance before the extensive radar and superstructure changes were done in the early 1960s... I've got enough to do without that!

Was the modern haze gray with dark gray decks already in use?

Were the tops of the turrets dark gray also? Some photos look like they were, others look light gray.

I've only found photos showing small parts of the helicopter pad markings, between the aft turret and the hangar door. Are there any full photos?

Thanks for your help!
