The specification for modern US Navy Haze Gray is 26270.   Testors MM Neutral Gray is 36270.  The difference is satin vs flat.

There is no specification for modern US Navy deck gray.   Testors MM Gunship Gray is a good match.   New, unweathered flight deck non-skid is closely approximated by MM Engine Gray.

PollyScale Red Zinc Chromate (railroad color) is an excellent hull red

Thanks!  I did a little more research yesterday, and found some good source material.  The instructions that came with the kit are horrible; but once I got over trying to figure out what they were saying to do, and concentrate more on what would actually work and look authentic, I made more headway.  I appreciate your input!

USS America Paint Colors

Hi all! I'm new to the Forum, and have recently just got back into kit building. I picked up an ARII version of the USS America that I want to build for a friend, and I'm having a little problem planning paint mixtures. I am planning on using Tamiya Acrylics. Can anyone make any suggestions on colors/mixture ratios?

My first hurdle was, after seeing the instructions denote a mixture of Green, Black and Flat for the lower hull below the boot topping; research showed me that the color should actually be red (or at the least, reddish). The instructions further denote American Navy Blue and Grey, but I'm at a loss.

Suggestions would be most welcome!
