Looking for documented 1/96 Constitution builds
Posted by Donnie on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 11:18 PM

Has anyone here documented (photos) of their 1/96 Constitution build. I am especially interested in the progress photos and choice of colors.  I have the 1/96 version of which I have had it now for about a 1 1/2 years. I am thinking about making a build post for this ship, but I do want to make some research if anyone has built this with pictures. It has been a couple of years since my last build.

Thanks

Donnie

I am about 35% through my build and am planning on maybe entering a series of pictures of the build on my picture site.

Donnie:

There are lots of good historical resources out there on this ship. Do you have specific questions about the color scheme?

You can see photos of the "Hull Model", the Smithsonian 1/48 scale model, and others here:

Hope this helps too.

Hi Len,

that is a great looking USS C.

Len and others, yes, I need to do some research on my own, I agree. I like looking at other peoples work as well.

I guess I am after the obvious: Deck color, bulwarks, mast, carronades, etc.

I had experience with my last plastic build of the wappen von hamburg of using several layers of paints, making the parts look really close to wood texture.

I see that Len has his mast whilte, mixed with wood tones, of which I like.

thanks everybody for sharing your thoughts.
