USNS Lewis and Clark class T-AKE model ?
Posted by peterj on Friday, March 7, 2008 7:29 AM

Does anyone make a 1/700 kit of the T-AKE class dry cargo/ammunition ships?

One of them is being named for my favorite Mercury astronaut, Wally Schirra:

Thanks!

Auxilliary ships, of any era, are not well represented by the model industry.

Your best bet may be to start with a USS Cimarron by JAG and do some cutting & adding to make a T-AKE

Some day, I am going to wake up with an idea for my latest project involving a merchant ship or auxiliary, and with a few clicks of the mouse be able to buy the exact model I need on the Internet, of the specific ship, in the scale I prefer and with any PE or other add-ons I could possibly want already included in the price of the kit.

*Goes and holds face under a cold water faucet* OK, Now I'm really awake, and know that that'll never happen.

Msfob:  Whatever you're on, I'd like some too Smile [:)]  Since my ship modeling is mostly early Cold War, I know exactly what you mean.

Ed:  Thanks for the idea.  However, my skills and perseverence aren't up to a build like that.  I have enough trouble finishing OOB projects!
