Model Master US Coast Guard red & orange paint problem
Posted by Aaronw on Friday, April 4, 2008 2:48 PM

Last year I ordered a bottle each of USCG red & orange from the Model Master Marine Acryl line, when I get them the paint was kind of chunky. I just ordered two more bottles thinking maybe I got some that had been sitting in a warehouse too long, but these are the same way. I've ordered MM Acryl from this same vender before and have had no problems like this.

Has anyone else had this problem with these colors? Is there an easy fix?

Asking here instead of in paint since they are ship colors I thought I might find more people who had used these colors here.

Thanks

I've had the occasional bottle of MM Acryl that was chunky/gritty also.  According to one of my LHSs, it's possible the paint was frozen sometime before it got to your retailer.  He occasionally gets batches of acrylics that way in the wintertime.

I don't think age is the problem, since I have some very old acrylics that still work fine.

It just seems odd that all the rest of the paint in both orders was fine. I ordered these about a year apart, I would think it moves off the shelf a little faster than that. I thought it might be a problem with these particular colors. I know the orange and the red came from different warehouses because the shipped seperately from different locations.

Just weird.
