Probably the best sub book on WW2 boats is Erminio Bagnasco's book Submarines of WW2. It's available from Borders and B&N. It covers all the classes from all the combatants, obviously paying alot of attention to German, Japan, the US, Great Britain, and Italy.

It's relatively inexpensive, in the $25-30 range.

For the real quality stuff start with www.usni.org This is the United States Naval Institute. Go to thier online book catalog. Start with ship references. Thier prices are expensive but they give members a generous discount and they have good sales during the year. Or go to any one of the online book retailers like www.borders.com and type in submarines in the search box. Or go to your public library. Most librarys have electronic search capability. In Rhode Island I can search the entire states library system on line from home. Plus you never know what a particular library branch would have. In many states you can reserve a book from another branch and have it sent to your local branch even if it's across the other side of the state. Tell me what you are looking for and maybe I can reccommend some specific titles.
