Perhaps we are talking about two very similar but different displays. The FSM cover article came out before the 1/72 scale kits were available.  The only Revell Type VII U-Boat was the 1/125 scale version. I cannot find my copy of the article but I will look and get back to you.

Bill,

This U boat is the Revell 1/72 kit according to the poster. HTH

The same model appeared in Fine Scale Modeler a few years ago as the cover story. The article gave precise instructions for duplicating the water.  the model was the 1/125 Revell U-Boat in any of its variations.  I hope it helps; I can't remember the exact date of the issue.

Yeah...those long boring shifts on the bridge of the CMA CGM Alger...

Thanks for showing the interest in my build, guys!

Here is the link to the thread. I had to search for 'U-96' and 'Das Boot'.

I'd bet Andy has some familiarity with what real rough weather looks like.

Bingo! That's the one I was thinking of. Thanks Leftie!

The search function seems to be out of order right now, but I'll try to nail it down later.

Thanks rabapla. That is a great job on the water, but it's not the one I'm thinking of. I'm pretty sure it was a 1/72 kit.

I seem to recall seeing what you describe, but do not know the link.  I went to Steelnavy.com thinking I saw it there, but did not see a U-boat in rough water (although there are some really great water dios there).  The best rough water I've seen is MFSOB's Liberty ship SS John Randolph.  I can hear the hull sloshing around just by looking at the photo.

 ...calling MFSOB!

Does anyone remember a U-boat model, I think it was 1/72, with the most amazing job of rough water for a base? It could have been a German build, I'm not sure.

If you do, and there is still a link to that somewhere, I'd like to retreive it.

Thanks,

Fred
