Sorry Papa-Echo; none of the books I know has color photos, only B&W but with some interesting shots of u-boats at the dry docks and these can be useful for painting reference, if this helps you I'll tell you what book have the most interesting ones (as soon as I can search again).

Color pics would be nice....nice photos more than drawings in this case...painting ideas.

Maybe I can help you; I have been reading a few books as reference to build a type VII model (revell 1/125), one book had more drawings, other one had more technical stuff; what do you need?.

Have a look at Business In Deep Waters. it is the full saga of the U-Boot Waffe in both wars and contains details and photographs of all th boats.
