Just recieved my monthly Squadron flyer, and if anyone is in the market for a  1/350th Trumpeter Massachusetts or Alabama -they're on sale for 1/2 price ($73.99). They're limited to quantities on hand ,so you'd better hurry!  Cheers

You may already be too late.  They had no Alabamas left at the Squadron Open House this weekend.

I did pick up a couple of half price (or less) kits plus some half price PE off of their scratch & dent tables.

Actually, I think you can get a pretty close deal elsewhere... There is an Alabama on ebay for $79....

You can also get a Massachusetts for the same price....  It's a funny thing, the Trumpeter N. Carolina is so much cheaper (about $50) compared to these other two, can anyone tell me why?

It has numerous flaws which range from mild to severe

Well, that's certainly a reason not to buy it, but on the same basis, the Hasegawa Nagato suffers similarly, yet is astronomical in price (and they even plan to re-issue it as Mutsu, with a few modifications, but the hull with its stupid CAD lines remains the same....).....

What exactly are the flaws with the Trumpy USS North Carolina ?

I have this kit and would like to know in case I need to correct something. (if possible)

Thanks,

That review was written by an infamous nit-picker, so be warned. Most are minor and/or engineering flaws.

Really,

I wish he would say what he REALLY thinks of this kit. I dont expect the model to be an exact clone especially when it is reduced in size from the original 729 ft. to about 28 inches. That guy is a true rivet counter. The kit has its flaws, but I am grateful to Trumpeter for releasing it.

Actually, others have found more flaws since then... guns out of position by five scale feet or so... more levels that are too high or short... but I guess if you like sloppy work it's not bad.

Check out Dragon's new Buchanan to see what Trumpeter *SHOULD* be aiming for.
