I don't know about "sage" comments, but a quick Forum search on the phrase "Aoshima Cutty Sark" produced no fewer than 52 posts.  This one is a reasonable summary:  /forums/946140/ShowPost.aspx .

I frankly find the price of the Aoshima reissue pretty horrifying, but it is (assuming the new owners haven't made any significant modifications to the Imai original) an outstanding kit.  My biggest criticism probably would be that, because the scale is relatively small, the manufacturer found it necessary to make the upper spars a bit heavy.  As I've noted in several other posts, it is in many (though by no means all) respects a more accurate kit than the big old Revell one.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

There is an older post talking about the best of the plastic sailing ship model kits.  jtilley remarks there on the reasons he feels the Aoshima is a finer kit than the Revell 1/96 in a number of ways.

I am sure that, like a great shark, he will rise from the "deep", sink his teeth into this post and respond with some sage comments.

I saw this one too... has anyone had a look at this kit?  Is it as good, or better than the old Revell 1/96 kit?

The Aoshima Cutty Sark is available for for $135.96 in the June 2008 Squadron catalog.  I do not think you will find it elsewhere from an easier source to access.  Also some others like the Revell Viking ship.

Hope this helps some of you get an increasingly difficult to find sailing ship.
