I've been away from modeling for about 10 years, but I'm starting up again.
I started with rigged sailing ships and then moved to 1/72 scale Naval aircraft. With my long held interest, personally and professionally, with Naval Aviation history, I'm starting with Tamiya's 1/700 waterline CV 6 Enterprise.
References on the ship, I have. What I need is general tips, advice on construction of kits, techniques, etc., since my skills are rusty and lots of changes have occured. Such as, how well do the Model Master Acryl paints airbrush on this scale? I've used the MM enamels, but can this Acryl stuff work well w/o thinning? Does it dry brush well?
Plus I'm new to the brass etched detail parts. What's a good technique and cement for attaching the stuff? Paint it before, or after assembly? Do you drill the airplane props to mount them on the stubs, or is it more secure, although it may not look as nice, to trim the stubs and mount the props to the engine cowlings? Does it matter on this scale?
On this stuff, I'm wide open.
