Liberty Bell 7

This is Revell's 1/48 scale Mercury Capsule finished as Liberty Bell 7.

The kit was rather nice compared to the age.  The only real gripe I had was the decals which took a bucket of Solv-a-set to lay them down on the louvered panels.  The it has a nce interior with panel and pilot figure.

Thanks for looking

Nice! That's a small model and you did a nice clean job on it. And the decals DID take a lot of solvent to nestle down on mine too, so much that I thought it was just gonna melt the decals away.

Did you paint it Black? Gunmetal? It looks just about right! And the LES looks perfect!

And don't be shy ... post a few more pix of it too!! :-)

Nice job on the 1/48 scale version.

Now it's time for the 1/12 scale version.  Use your 40% off Hobby Lobby coupon and you can pick one up pretty inexpensively.  They usually have one or two on the shelf.

Hi Pete.  The overall finish is Tamiya flat black XF1 and over that was a very light drybrushing of dark blue.  The hatch lining is Testor's steel.  The escape tower is simply Testors flat red.  I really wanted to do the Liberty Bell 7 capsule after watching it's recovery off the sea bottom on TV.  Most of my reference was an old National Geographic.
