Shuttle Challenger & 747 - What Scale
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, February 7, 2004 5:01 PM
Can anyone tell me the scale of the old Revell
Space Shuttle Challenger & 747 combo kit.
I don't know the kit# either.

Thanks,

James Smile [:)]

P.S. Is it worth $50.00?

A quick online search found a Revell Kit listed as 1/144 selling for $30.00.

As for if a price is justified for a Kit, it depends on you and how much you want that specific Kit.

A Kit I might not pay $5 for might be worth $50 or more to someone else.

Yep, 1/144th is the scale. I own both kits, the original with the Enterprise, and the later one with the Challenger, which includes decals for other shuttles, but don't know if it has the aerodynamic shroud that the Enterprise does.

Off hand, I don't recall what I paid for the Challenger model (bought it last summer on eBay). I know that I paid about thirty dollars for the Enterprise, but that was ten years ago at the LHS.

Don't know what search MadModel did, but a quick search on eBay just now turned up three. One Enterprise, and two Challengers. Here's the link:

I'm not trying to talk you into justifying the price, but consider that you are getting two models in one, and rather large ones at that.

There was a Uk company, name escapes me, that made a 1.72 747 with attachments for a similar scale shuttle a few years ago. If I find the company name I'll post it.

The 1:72 747 was a vac. formed kit. Forgot to mention that.
