Bumper-WAC question
Posted by Don Stauffer on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 9:07 AM

The drawing I have of the Bumper Corporal, a somewhat modified Corporal, shows some sort of nameplate, access plate, or marking on the missile body a few feet forward of the fins.  But it is unclear exactly what this is.  Does anyone know what this is?  Insignia?  Access port? Nameplate?  Anyone have a good graphic of it?

Another question.  While I found a number of pictures, I am not sure they show the complete markings, especially which fins were black, which white and which half and half.  Also, might each launch have had different markings?  Does anyone have a scale drawing that specifically calls out the fin markings?

One drawing includes what looks like a camera fairing up near the nose.  I remember seeing a movie from an early sounding rocket.  May have been one of the Bumpers.  But most photos I have do not show such a fairing, so I assume it may have only been on one launch.  Most drawings I have do NOT show such a fairing.
